I reckon I should jot down something here in my blog since i spent 90% of the day at the cozy 27(1F1) of St.Patrick Square today, even though i still haven't gotten the card reader to upload some photos. Don't worry baby Darren, it's not your fault that you've got your research to work on and i'm pretty cool with just simply chilling at home. :)
Now that I've kinda settled down, I'm starting to get bored with Edinburgh. I know this is crazy as it's only my 5th day in here but Edinburgh is pretty much a simple city - 2 towns, 2 main roads, an Edinburgh castle, that's it. Yet I fell in love with its simplicity, the weather here has been lovely - sunny and cool. Not to mention the drizzling afternoons of course. but for a person who can't even stand the air-conditioned lecture hall like me, it's surprising that i'm getting used to it.
The pace here is all relaxed, with alot of people walking on the streets, some with dogs and some with baby push chairs. Nothing like the hustle and bustle of Singapore. The streets are lined with shops, many of them are eateries, classy restaurants or tiny cafes selling kebab/baguette/sandwiches/baked potatoes/pies and many many more. Standing on the bridge linking the old town and the new town, I see one of the most beautiful scene with my own eyes that I've ever seen before. Magnificent buildings of the Renaissance architecture style stand closely to one another on hills over the skyline, with significant important landmarks of Edinburgh city standing even taller, as if they're watching over the capital city of Scotland.
The Princes street will be the shopaholics' heaven. H&M especially made me go crazy. I could see how it drives the other girls crazy too. The shop is usually packed to its capacity compared to the other shops due to it's affordable and lovely pieces.
I visited the famous Edinburgh castle, only outside the castle. We didn't go in because it costs 10 pounds. I'm a traveller on tight budget u see :P The Royal Mile starts at the Castle entrance to the gates of Holyrood Palace. From the Castle esplanade which leads into the Royal Mile as we walked down the hill travelling East there are several streets which connect to make up the Royal Mile. Castlehill, Lawnmarket, High Street, Cannongate, and Abbey Strand which leads to Holyrood Palace. okay I got these names from the internet you can't expect me to know them all right? hehe.
yup unless I'm a crazy fanatic of history or architectual or geography, then I think
maybe one reason why I fell in love with the boring Edinburgh is because I have the special somoeone to share every moment with :)
Me in Edinburgh. Couldn't tell it was during summer time eh? me neither. but yes, that was Edinburgh's 'summer'.
The famous Edinburgh Castle - definitely not be missed
one of the many Scottish delicacies - Haggis. Darren told me it's mixed mince meat. I believed him. Not until I found out the truth from the free tour tour guide few weeks later. tell you guys more next time! but trust me,despite the nasty truth behind, it's delicious! :D
You see numerous tartan shops lining up along all streets in Edinburgh, big or small. this is where darren rented his full set of scottish kilt wear for his graduation.
